SWC Code of Conduct
Sheboygan Walleye Club Code of Conduct
Contestants participating in any Sheboygan Walleye Club (SWC) event shall abide by this code of conduct and the applicable rules for the event and body of water we are fishing. Contestants shall, at all times, conduct themselves in a manner of professionalism that will not reflect unfavorably on the Sheboygan Walleye Club, its members, events, board members or tournament organizers. The favorable public reputation of SWC as an organization in the sport of fishing, the integrity of its officials, and the reputation of the club are a valuable asset and tangible benefit for the SWC. It is the obligation of contestants to refrain from attacks on fellow contestants, board members, tournament organizers and the public as we are on the water. Responsible expressions of disagreement with SWC policy should be addressed with a board member and are acceptable; however, attacks upon the integrity of the rules or officials will not be tolerated. Public comments, including those on all forms of social media, that an angler knows or should reasonably know, will harm the reputation of the SWC, SWC board members and tournament organizers shall be considered unacceptable conduct and may result in disciplinary action. Contestants shall demonstrate professionalism and integrity in support of the SWC. Any angler who violates any portion of the Angler Code of Conduct may be subject to sanctions including and not limited to disqualification and loss of Cabela’s Team of the Year points, or removal from club membership.
Sportsmanship
Contestants in SWC Tournaments are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation, and must adhere to all laws and regulations of the body of water we are fishing on. Any infraction of these fundamental sporting principles may be deemed cause for disqualification and other sanctions as seen by the board of directors including loss of SWC membership. Use of alcohol or drugs (other than over the counter or prescriptions) during tournament hours are prohibited. Alcoholic beverages will be permitted after you have trailered your boat for the day and are waiting for tournament results. All contestants are bound by the prevailing statutes and regulations of the state we are fishing and or body of water. It is the contestant’s responsibility to research all fishing and boating regulations related to the body of water we are fishing. If the Tournament director issues any special regulations due to high water, high boat traffic, or hazardous weather conditions those rules must be followed as if they are a state regulation. Any conduct reflecting unfavorably upon efforts to promote safety, sportsmanship, fair competition, and compliance with tournament rules shall be grounds for rejecting the application for participation and/or for disqualification after circumstances are reviewed by the Tournament Director and Board. Any disqualification, suspension, or other disciplinary action regarding any tournament or fishing organization, shall be grounds for rejecting any application for participation in SWC events. This may also be grounds for disqualification from an SWC tournament after the circumstances are reviewed by the Tournament Director and the SWC Board. A written statement may be accepted by the Tournament Director from any contestant in question. Any angler who displays a lack of Sportsmanship may be subject to sanctions including and not limited to disqualification and loss of Cabela’s Team of the Year points, or removal from club membership.
